Ever notice that people tone their wardrobe palette way down this time of year? It’s as if they’re mimicking the somber colors of the winter landscape. Perhaps I was moved by the vivid hues of the Florida sunset while visiting Sarasota over Thanksgiving–or maybe I was just inspired by the fantastic deal I got on this Lilly Pulitzer Sherylnn Dress, on sale for a mere $59!–but I decided to brighten my holiday wardrobe up. Way up.
A vivid neon print might not be a traditional fashion choice for the holidays, but it certainly made me feel festive. I balanced the bright colors in the dress with neutral accessories. A black patent leather bow belt, also by Lilly, highlighted the natural waist and strappy nude snakeskin flats by Chinese Laundry sharpened the otherwise preppy look. The shoes were another fabulous find, costing just $20 at Marshalls! I couldn’t find this same style online, but similar styles are here and here and the high heel version is available here. For colder climates, a playful cashmere cardi would make a perfect top layer.
