Exciting news! This weekend I have the privilege of accompanying Charleston’s own Julie Wheat of the fashion label Cavortress to Missouri she competes in in St. Louis Fashion Week’s Project: Design! competition. Thank you to everyone who voted and helped Cavortress move into the finals, and–if you’re in St. Louis on Tuesday–please come support Cavortress as it takes to the runway!

Starting Sunday, I will be posting frequent updates on all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into competing in St. Louis Fashion Week, so please check back often. See the press release below for the official details.

Also, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week coverage will begin shortly after St. Louis Fashion Week’s coverage comes to an end. I have an incredible list of shows lined up, and I can’t wait to share Spring 2011 trends with you straight from the runway.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALIVE Magazine and Budweiser Select Present Saint Louis Fashion Week

ST. LOUIS, July 12, 2010 – Saint Louis Fashion Week enters its fourth year of shows with Fall Fashion Week 2010! The five-day event takes over the city from September 7 through September 11. Rather than take place in one location as in years past, this season’s Fashion Week will take place in a different location each night. From Downtown to Brentwood to Frontenac, the city will be buzzing about the latest styles to hit the runway.

The focus this season is on St. Louis’ top fashion retailers. Much like Vogue’s Fashion Night Out, Saint Louis Fashion Week is focusing on ways to boost sales locally during a recession. Three of the week’s shows (Wednesday – Friday nights) will take place inside retail locations: Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s at the Galleria and Plaza Frontenac. Each night will include a complimentary cocktail hour, a fashion show that presents the stores’ best lines and an opportunity for fashionistas to shop the collections. Ticket sales from the shows will benefit the retailers’ charities of choice, including St. Louis Children’s Hospital, HavenHouse St. Louis and Fashion Group International Inc. Saint Louis.

The week will culminate with the fashion event of the season, Liquid Style. Happening in the recently renovated Old Post Office Plaza Downtown, the event brings together top St. Louis boutiques Sole and Blues, Rung, NV Boutique, Klutch Boutique, The Eye Bar and Boutique 83 for a night of fashion by local retailers.

Also returning this year is the popular Project: Design, an online fashion competition showcasing local fashion designers. The designers with the most votes at the end of the online competition will have the opportunity to showcase their fashions on the runway and be judged by St. Louis’ fashion elite.

Open to the public, Saint Louis Fashion Week will offer both discounted individual general admission tickets to each of the nightly events as well as the opportunity to purchase weeklong passes. Tickets are available online (www.saintlouisfashionweek.com) or at the door on the night of the event. Ticket prices range from $10 – $30 for individual tickets and $75 for a weeklong pass.

Sponsors for Saint Louis Fashion Week include Budweiser Select, Bacardi Silver, Brown Shoe, Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Plaza Frontenac.

Event partners include Alobars, Contemporary Productions, Centro Models, Corridor 40, E&A Mobile Media, Lucky You Productions, Midwest Valet, Mother Model Management, Rock Uniform, Riverfront Times, Synergy Productions, Weinhardt Party Rentals, West Model Management and Z107.7 FM.
